Tree planting with local communities to fight deforestation and restore degraded soils.
The community reforestation programme mobilises residents of villages around N'Djamena to plant and maintain local species suited to the Sahelian climate. Tree nurseries are set up with village committees, who water and monitor the young trees over several seasons. Each planting campaign is paired with awareness sessions on the role trees play in fighting soil erosion and desertification.
